69 Days

Spent some time sleeping out under the stars the last few days.  I highly recommend this tactic if you’re feeling just a little bit “too special.”

Nothing like ten million stars beaming their way through light years and the infinity of space and God to give you a little perspective on your life.

The second night, all of the air leaked out of my mattress, and I was able to become reacquainted with the term “cold, hard earth.”  It’s like sleeping on an extra-extra-extra firm bed.  You know, like at Holiday Inn.

So let’s just say I might have had a vision or two.

Too often we lead sad, pathetic lives of quiet desperation.  And, why?  The good news is that we all get to choose how we will live our lives on this planet.

It’s our choice.

Sure, every once in a while you might get trapped a half-mile down in the earth for 69 days with a group of your co-workers.  It happens.

But then, when they finally “tube” you to the surface, you can hug your spouse, hug your kids, sign a book deal (don’t forget movie rights) and book your flight to see Oprah.

You probably would have given anything you owned to have had a glimpse of the stars during those 69 days.  And just think… we can go out tonight and get our look for free.

Perspective.  Attitude.  Choice.

My brothers and sisters… keep looking up!

Thought for the week:  “Live each day like it’s your last.  One day you’ll get it right!”

  1. Funny thing, if you really believe in a God who is in charge, then the circumstances you find yourself trapped in ( I know, don't end a thought with a preposition) may be necessary for the next step of growth in that lifelong journey you are on. ( just can't make myself say, " lifelong journey on which you are, ") When learning math, you have to learn it in steps. Life, as well, is learned best by experiencing one circumstance at a time. It pays well to learn to enjoy all the flavors of life.
